Life without 'I'

Life without 'I', What is a life that many crave for?

By today's standard, money is almost everything, one must learn how to play the game of stocks, least he/she needs to understand the basic economic fundamentals to be able to survive... well, least you have to know how to manage your earnings, that is, if you have extras left...

What had happen to the old days? Where family value is on top of everything else, all others are just a thing attach to it. Possibly the movie 'Pleasantville' show the best, that those old days are long gone...

Human civilization migrated from barbarian to agricultural, then to industrial, and up to now, the information technology; are the societies really evolve to the better or slide down to the dooms?

Environmentalist work so hard to let us know the issue of global warming, thus ex-vp Gore found a new stage and shines pretty much better than his political life; Whole Foods market sell high end 'organic' produce for the mass, aside with little chunk of profit; Susan G. Komen foundation turn everything into pink nowadays,
while Armstrong work hard to turn the other side yellow...

Nothing is wrong with those, yet more of these phenomenons only prove that human being are keep loosing itself from its purpose of life, loosing its original souls actually...

What we need is a clean state of mind, minus all the learning we were forced to learn since youth... maybe the happiest time of life is when we were young, or start to learning about things surrounding us; once we cross that line, well, yeah, life is full of surprises; and sure each individual's surprises aren't the same...

Couple years ago, near half of the top executives are flown into Eastern art of yoga, taichi, Zen, etc. Claim it helps to refocus their minds and regain energies lost in daily tasks...

East meets West, actually, West is more wealthier, and East is on average the poor side of the balance beam... So, what's going on? Is that a limit of wealth? or it's better to stay poor? Or wealthy life has some attachments, and poor, is just simple poor?

We all know it's better not to argue w/ S.F. homeless, or anyone poor... who knows what he/she might do to you, your life is more valuable in comparison, right? Well, I guess, but they are more 'free' in every other way... Can you do that??

Our education taught us to be useful to the society, thus they train us that way; money buy stuffs, we want stuffs, thus we work for money, cause we can't steal; steal is bad, can put you in dark little room with orange suit... Yet all things surround us also teach us to spend, spend on things we mostly don't need; by that way, certain top 3% of the population can enjoy the wealthy life that MTV often show... So, what has that needs to do with education?? Don't think many top Ivy league individuals are in that top 3%, are they??

Collectivism societies are without 'I', thus there really is no I in any form you search in... Individualist societies are all about 'I', thus many 'I' on the block, and top 'I' are in those 3%....

Therefore, do we need to be in that top 'I'? It looks nice though... Sure it would be nice...

Ay, for most of us, it's life without 'I'... just face it... back to the worker ant category... learn less, more happier; trust me... No 'I' is better, and less cyber is even good for your health, mental or physical...

Therefore, why are you still here??? You must be bored, I know, me too...

湘妹子與辣妹子

忘了什麼時候看到這篇文章了；讀讀倒是挺有趣了。。。

湘妹子與辣妹子

曾經有人說，湘妹子不漂亮，個子比不上北方，打扮不如上海，斯文不如江浙。中國的美女群落應該是在上海、重慶、江浙、青島、大連、哈爾濱。

但是，湘妹子自己還是很自信的，即使在全國排不上第一，前幾名還是有戲的。皮膚是沒有說的，三湘四水把湘妹子的皮膚養得白嫩白嫩。個子不高也是小巧玲瓏，更有風味。

湘妹子也越來越會打扮，一位去過長沙的外地人說，天哪，長沙女孩子穿得真時髦，大膽，而且還不俗氣。加上南方的水土，個個身段苗條，魔鬼身材。她們還會很自豪地說：誰說我們湘妹子不漂亮，宋祖英不漂亮？瞿穎不漂亮？你們有沒有欣賞能力？

湘妹子還會非常不當回事地說，漂亮算什麼，我們是全國有名的多情。漂亮又當不了飯吃，多情才能網路天下好男人。

在找物件方面，湘妹子不會講究含蓄，愛就愛，死去活來也要愛，不愛就是不愛，她們也毫不隱瞞心中的想法，看中了你的錢，還是看中了你的房子，或者光是你這個人的幽默吸引了她，或者甚至是你的窮對她有吸引力。

她們的要求不像北京、上海的姑娘們那樣，是時代的“陰晴表”、“溫度計”。北京和上海姑娘常把情愛的目光盯視在“當代英雄”的身上。“文革”期間，“全國人民學解放軍”的時候，解放軍是她們的第一選擇；“工人階級領導一切”的口號響徹雲霄，國營大廠的技術工人便成了時髦的選擇。“文革”過後，倩女們把目光轉 向了知識份子；“出國熱”，使她們青睞有海外關係的男人；商海大潮，使外企職員和形形色色的老闆炙手可熱。而且絕對喜歡情調，依然需要情愛的氣氛。

而湘妹子特別的敢愛敢恨，似乎不是特別的功利，她們要是看上一個男人，絕對是非理性成分特別多，在市場經濟如此發達的今天，湘妹子也不會理會找物件一定要有房有車，她們說：“只要感覺到了，窮得一條褲子也要跟他走。”

宋祖英的一首“辣妹子”，使整個中國都知道了湘妹子天生不怕辣。對湖南女孩不外乎兩種稱呼：一謂湘妹子；二謂辣 妹子。湖南的青山綠水終日伴隨著湘女的成長，靈秀之氣是必然種植於生命之中的。她們大多有紅椒一般的火辣性格，苗條俊美，加上聰慧，勤快大方，加上多情， 讓人久久不能忘懷。

湘女多情自古而然？

很多人不知道湘女多情是怎麼來的，或者認為是空穴來風，或者覺得是湖南人坐井觀天，在自己誇自己，或者認為會不會是因為電視裏面那幾個湖南籍的歌唱明星製造的煙幕彈。

湘女多情，那別的地方的女人就是吃素的，就不多情了，就是冷血動物了麼？不搞清這個由來，就是虧待了天下別的美女了。

追蹤湘女多情的淵源，不能不談到有名的娥皇、女英的故事，傳說中的娥皇、女英二妃千里尋夫，淚灑湘竹， 關於這個美麗的神話在楚湘之地可謂深入人心，娥皇、女英對愛情的執著與忠貞構成“湘女多情”的精神源頭。

不過，較真地講，舜帝南巡途中崩於蒼梧之野，二妃尋夫而駐足湘水之濱，本算不得土著湘妹，然而，君山北渚的二妃墓、湘妃祠還有那叢叢斑竹可以作證，這段哀惋動情的神話已經化成湘人的情感偶像，湘女就從此 開始多情。

這一圈“一半遊戲一半真”地比下來，不由令湘女們暈乎起來，但千萬不可迷糊，也不可驕矜過世。論身材、 論膚質、論風采、論裝扮的確應該為湘女的秀色指數加分，但女性的美可不全在秀，而在情色一體上。

如今，湘女攜歌闖京城的辣妹甜妹實在太多，當紅的更多。暫 且先不算曾以京韻大鼓調高唱“我還是最愛我的北京”的李穀一，當下一線紅歌星就有宋祖英、張也、湯燦、甘萍……似乎還應加上京劇名旦李維康。湖南電視的女 主持們更是魅力四射，風騷十足。

也就是說，要充分發揮“湘女多情”的強項，將‘秀麗‘提升到“魅麗”境界。在電視高度普及的今天，螢幕上幾位元湘籍女歌手的媚眼與甜歌著實令不少外省的男歌迷們心旌搖曳，還真將“湘女多情”當作一條放之四海而皆準的真理來認同。

曾經有一些外省籍的男士說，‘湖南妹子真的是讓我歡喜讓我憂’。她們的媚眼真的能勾魂，她們火辣辣的親昵讓你比吃了蜜還要甜，但是她們發起脾氣時的辣味恨不得嗆死你。

常常聽人說，在中國的各大名牌高校，湘妹子找對象的能力是很有一手的，往往大學一年級下 來，班上的才俊男生就被她們拉下馬，挎上胳膊領回家由爹娘甄別去了。

因為“多情”這個詞的內涵頗豐富，含情是一端，用情是另一端，前者是本錢，後者是手段。我們看來，“湘 女多情”更側重於後者，湘女多情的特徵是用情濃烈。

因為論多情的“本錢”，湘女們似乎並不佔優勢，譬如個頭並不是最高，臉蛋不是最白、最靚，腰肢不是最 細，但她們與情郎相視，媚眼可能最勾魂；與情郎相伴，情話可能最攝魂；與情郎相依，良宵可能最銷魂。絕非病態的多愁善感，亦非作派的纖秀婉約，所以就更貼 近世俗生活，更凸現生命本色。

殊不知，長沙方言中，對“多情”女的俚語評價是“蠻騷”，口 語中，“蠻”字乃“很”、“非常”之意。湘方言中，還有“霸蠻”一說，此處有“強人所難”、“固執”等意，但“蠻”字的意境很難以用一個相對應的詞來表 達。雖然“蠻騷”的“蠻”非彼“蠻”，但人們總是不由自主地把“蠻騷”的“蠻”賦予“執著”、“堅守”的含義，“蠻騷”除了“很騷”，實在還有另一番韻致。

人常說“女人是水做的”，媚人之處全仗一個“柔”字，尤其是南國女子，更是“人比黃花瘦”，“柳色看猶 淺”，林語堂嘲諷為“苗條但神經衰弱”，一種病態的美，而湘女的“蠻騷”卻一掃這份纖弱，南人有北人相，女子有男人氣，既是一種反叛，也是一種逃逸，于區 域社會學特質而言還真具有幾分類型意義。這大概也算得上“湘女多情”民諺的一點點理性注腳吧。

湘女開胃，但不好消化 　　

有人對湘女做了一個很精到的評價：“開胃，但是不好消化。”

開胃是指湘妹子長得很漂亮，湘女的出名，多半借助了那首《桃花江美人窩》的歌曲，桃花江當然是泛指，指的是整個湖南。到過湖南的人，都會覺得湘女漂亮。湘女 的漂亮主要是水色子（膚色）特別好，她們的皮膚白皙嫩滑，泛著紅暈，富於變化，把多情的內心世界表達得淋漓盡致。湖南的女孩子和北方很多地方的女孩子一 比，馬上就能分出高下，並不一定是她們的身段或者臉蛋有多好，而是她們那美侖美奐的膚色一下子就把身上的其他瑕疵給掩蓋了，把整個人都帶活了。

開胃還指的就是湘女多情，這個情字是把柔情，熱情，癡情都包含在一起的情。在沈從文先生的小說和散文裏，湘西女子的癡情和湘北女子的柔情總是令人感動不已。長沙妹子尤其以熱情為特色。那則湘夫人的傳說把湘女對感情的忠貞強化到一種極致。

漂亮又多情，這樣的女人誰能不嚮往呢？！ 但是湘妹子不好消化，這是很多男人的共識，大概是說湖南女孩對男人的要求很高，一般的男人，湘妹子幾乎 是看不上的，即使和湘妹子好上的好男人，也要有股子能折騰的勁兒，否則會被她們那麻辣辣的情感，和她們那亦真亦假的癡人說夢似的語言，還有疾風驟雨似的情 感弄得欲哭無淚。

湖南妹子中最典型的一支應該算是長沙妹子，都說長沙妹子很厲害。主要是她們在男人面前不會吳儂細語，一 開口就是那口聽起來有點野性的長沙話。一位和長沙女孩談戀愛的男孩子說，有時候，在她面前，像個小孩似的被擺弄來擺弄去的，像個媽對孩子一樣說話沒有商量 的餘地。說話也不拐彎，就那麼直來直去的。和她約會吧，你還沒說完，她就跟你來一句：“你去(念ke)不囉？”聽起來大有一“去不去，不去拉倒”的乾脆勁兒。

談戀愛的時候，一天到晚問我：“你愛我不囉?” “你怎麼總是什麼也不說囉？”把男孩子弄得實在很被動。

但是湘女還是湘女，她們對人的情總是在行動上讓你出奇不意地感動，她們有很強烈的自我犧牲精神，只要有幸娶上湘女的男人，不僅是優秀的男人，而且肯定是最省心、最享福的人。湘妹子特別的怕老公吃虧，幹什麼事情，寧願自己吃苦，也要讓自己的老公歇著。

她們會在別人面前表現出無比幸福，對老公無比崇拜的樣子，讓她的男人感激不已，覺得挺給男人面子。湘妹 子不會嫌棄自己的老公沒有混好什麼的，她們總是鼓勵男人好好幹，沉住氣，等待時機，不要灰心。湘妹子會照顧自己，更會照顧別人，尤其是家人。她們不要求奢 華的生活，不要求結婚要鑽戒、金項鏈，只要男人實實在在地對她們就很心滿意足了。多情的他們另一面是樸實得只剩下一種顏色——純白。

不好消化，也許有對湘妹子的誤解的成分，因為她們有時候也要偽裝一下自己，藏起溫柔的一面，免得被不識好歹的男人碰上。

不好消化，也許是男人還沒有找到真正的自信，因為湘妹子很直，她們對男人的要求太高，既要有本事，人又要好，說白了就是德才兼備。

但是湘妹子是真的不好消化，因為她們的感情總是那麼炙烈，讓男人覺得有壓力，生怕一不留神，會愧對了這份真情。

七夕

中國人愛好理想，有太多的文獻留下，從歷史到文學，終其一生也學不完的。

七夕情人節，一個美麗的故事，一段令人回憶的仙境；有如白蛇許仙般的令人動情。令人，令人哀傷。

七月七日，陰曆，又是個屬於風俗上的動感月份；

七月一日鬼門開，眾位兄弟結伴出山，找尋好友。

在短短的幾十天裏，一群好友周遊列國，訪仙求道。。。

聽說人間此時是熱鬧非凡，萬家燈火，舉家團圓。。。

倒不知為何那織女牛郎非要選在七月七日團聚？ 其他日子被訂走了嗎？ 還是此時較多觀眾，掌聲也多些？

認識的，不認識的都會給點同情，後說，來， 再親一下～ 明年抱個大胖兒～

嗯，世間參加婚禮的大多是這等表情。。。

七年的混世，還卻七年的付出。我想，應是差不多了。

誰付誰出已不重要了，

年輕的夢想，

一同的瘋狂，一同的相心，一同的無知，一同的氣餒，一同的痴心，一同的期望，一同的執卓，一同的學習，一同的相讓，一同的放棄；

算了，還有一年，也許，也許不需要我煩惱了；人生中的事務，都不是自己可以決定的；

IN-N-OUT Burger

話說:

某日在台灣和老友相聚吃晚飯時，突然有位夢仙女姊姊提起永康街多了一間 Burger Joint, 味道和北美的有像，因老闆是 L.A. 回去開的。

在座的 JL 聽到後兩眼發光，直說要去看看。。。 雖然我們是在永康街吃飯，但已經九點多了。。。好像有點。。。

後來我們不負 JL 望，還是走去看看了；基本上看起來還好，還算是一間店。。。 有點人在裡面，Menu 還可以，有Burger, Milkshake, etc.，只是，打烊了。。。 不知味道到底如何說。。

回美後探子JL有回報 (忍受不了不去吃的衝動。)：

"It ain't bad....has potential, but I still prefer In-n-Out better for now. But I go back and give feedback everytime (esp on their milkshakes... which started out a bit too liquid)."

嗯，嗯，了解，了解。。。

其實以前In-N-Out 在L.A. 開始時是沒有堂食的，都是車子 Drive-Through 就沒了。

現在某些 L.A. 的老店還是如此，如 Alhambra 等。

-新鮮的謀殺土豆成品。老實講，要在七分鐘之內吃完，不然的話，McDonald's 就可以了。。。 它的可撐十五分。。。

節婦吟 - 還君明珠雙淚垂

還君明珠雙淚垂 ~ 哀怨淒美詩的真義

張籍，字文昌，蘇州人，唐貞元十五年進士，官拜太常寺太祝，遷秘書郎。後經韓愈推薦，得為國子博士等官職。許多當時的名士，都樂於與他同遊。

在東平這個地方，有一位李司徒師道，父子三人，割據一方，是當時最為跋扈的一個藩鎮。李師道非常仰慕張籍的學識，很想羅致徵聘他，來為自己效命。

張籍雖是窮官，卻淡泊名利，更不願與亂臣為伍，常以詩歌自誤，逍遙而自在。張籍不便正面拒絕李師道的徵聘，所以，寫了一首「節婦吟」，寄給了李司徒師道：


節婦吟
君知妾有夫，贈妾雙明珠。
感君纏綿意，繫在紅羅襦。
妾家高樓連苑起，良人執戟明光里。
知君用心如日月，事夫誓擬同生死。
還君明珠雙淚垂，恨不相逢未嫁時。

在字面上，這是一首哀怨淒美的詩，其中的名句「還君明珠雙淚垂，恨不相逢未嫁時」，現在也常被人引用，表示對他人的深情厚意，因為時與事的不能相配合，只能忍痛加以拒絕之意。

而在當時的張籍，這首詩的用意，是婉謝而不願就聘。李師道看了，也只好就此作罷，不再勉強了。

嗯，這是孟姊姊的"騙人招數"，哦，是她的生財工具，喔，是關懷客戶的東東。。。 嗯，是姊姊的心意～

很好看吧？ 那全是姊姊親手打造的，從做果醬，選瓶子，打印，到包裝；搞的廠商都說有必要這麼嚴嗎？用現成的不行喔？

孟姊一句："不行"；廠商乖乖照辦。。。

碰上女土匪了，還能怎樣。。。 唉～

雖然它說是 7/1/07 過期，但："Best Before Jul. 1st 2007"。 並沒說之後就要丟了，為了不被修理，我，還是吃了吧～ 免的明年什麼都沒有的在家乖乖哭泣。。。

Friday the 13th~

Friday the 13th, hmm, what to do??

Well, we muggles must attend the wizarding world of Harry Potter, to be cure of the curses…

That is, another way to find excuse to ditch work and join Dumbledore’s Army for 2 hour and 18 min.; plus ~20 min. for the previews, and ~20 min. drive to the department of Mysteries’ darkroom #22… Oh, let’s just say Friday is not a day for work…

Death Eaters are coming, got to save the world~

One can’t be hungry when fighting the You-Know-Who; therefore, certain preparation is required beforehand. Luckily, the dept. of Arby’s offer 5 for $5.95 to join the event; how can we refuse their friendliness? Yet its mozzarella is too cheesy… not recommend it… strawberry shakes are better than McDonald’s…

Order of the Phoenix, read it back in ’03 when it first went out, thought it was a bit long and Umbridge’s part stretched too repetitively; the D.A. part was fun to read; and funny interactions between Potter and Snape in occlumency lessons.

The movie done ok, as it can’t compile all the details from book to live, just that the first love Cho was the trader instead, bit sloppy…

The fighting scenes in the movie used too much CG and cut off many details, the final duel between Voldemort and Dumbledore are so Starwar like, remember how Obi-Wan confronts Vader in Episode 4? J.K. Rowling must be a Starwar fan deep down, as many already claim…

To be honest, for the entire movie, I just want to watch Luna Lovegood for some reason… From the first scene she appear in the carriage to the end. The young actress who portrays her, Evanna Lynch, did quite well.

In the book, Luna was bit strange or weird, yet not in any mode during the movie; maybe the director like Lynch so much that ignore this little detail… no dirty blonde hair at all… beautified too much… hmm, maybe because of Lynch… However, I don’t mind… just give her more scenes in the next movie… ^_^

Also, if possible, delete all Cho’s scene would be nice… Katie Leung is not at all, an actor… what a disappointment since Goblet of Fire…

Anyhow, fans of the Potter world will watch the film regardless… I’m just waiting for the last installment to come on the 20th….

Oh yeah, on the way out, I also watched Ratatouille…

7-Eleven

7-Eleven or 7/11, as a trademark of a popular convenience store worldwide, I’m sure majority of the people knows what 7/11 stands for, that besides mainland China, which still try to penetrate the market.

7/11, to us, it’s about Slurpee and Big Gulp, and, oh yeah, lottery~ Course, never win much…

A drink or two after sport games, a place to gossip about school news, a site for sightseeing… Oh~ those wonderful times…

7/11 in U.S. is not much more than a small shop, full of items that seen to be useful, yet drinks, snacks, and cigarettes are its main source of revenue. Why? Because people shop from supermarket or warehouse store already, with cheaper price.

With the growing success of Walmart and Costco, these convenience stores’ market share is shrinking by day, and the typical customer in store time is less than 2 min; compare to about 25 min. or more in other retails. Course, this stays true for suburbs areas. With the similar distance of car drive, there’s no point to ‘shop’ at 7/11 on typical days.

So, how come convenience stores like 7/11 still making huge revenue? US$10,882 billion back in 03??

I believe it made its profit outside of United State, the land where it founded back in 1927. Those who live in the State would agree that 7/11 chains’ layouts are quite bore without any significance compare to QuickMart or any little stores.

As for stores outside of U.S., especially in Asia, tons of items and hot foods are required to be part of 7/11, without them, it’s not 7/11. Not to mention the endless of promotions and stuff animals like Hello Kitty collections in Japan, Hong Kong, and Taiwan lures customers’ desires.

The other function of 7/11 in Asia I found interesting is the collection of payments, from utility bills to parking fines, all sort of the things that turn the store into daily life necessities, which can’t live without them. That is a phenomenon created by Japan and spread all over Asia, just not U.S. By the way, 7/11 is a complete Japanese owned company back in 05.

So, the convenience store is not convenient in U.S., but in elsewhere… Part of the reason is the spread of land and its lack of market strategy, plus the franchise owners’ will. More promotion means more tasks, more items mean more stocks, and the customer base is uncertain, yeah, it’s hard.

Overall, these are not my problems, my issue is: when will U.S. 7/11 offer Tea Eggs??? Not just tasteless hot dogs…

By the way, they offer free slurpee today, “7-11 Day”, if you didn’t know…
